Charles Glen West

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving husband, father and Papa, Charles Glen West, on September 19th, 2023, at the age of 66. Charles was born June 15th, 1957, in Edson, Alberta, to Fred and Grace West, the third of four boys. Charles grew up on the family farm just North of Peers, Alberta, where he met his wife of 40 years, Beverly Clifton. They were married June 11th, 1983. They lived North of Peers, Alberta, where they raised their children, Patricia and Robert.

Charles was very active with the local Cub and Scout group for many years and enjoyed camping and teaching the kids. He worked as a millwright and welder, created his own company that he ran with his son Robert, in 2011, contracting to mills and mines in the Edson/Hinton areas as well as doing fabrication and repair work for neighbours and friends.

Charles is survived by his wife Bev, his children Patricia (Lee) Wakefield, and Robert (Katrina) West, grandchildren Brian Wakefield, Lillian and Alexander West, Jacen and Matthew Courtney, his brother Jim West, brothers in-law Jim (Joanne), Kevin (Tina), Robert (Tanna) and Duke (Shawna) Clifton, sisters in-law Marcie West and Cyndy (Bob) Plunkie, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Charles was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Grace West, his brothers Fred and Doug and sister in-law Sharon West.

A Celebration of Life will be held on September 30th, 2023, at the Fulham Hall at 2:00 PM

followed by a time of fellowship with the family.

 There will be a private family burial at a later date.

 In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice in Charles’ name or the Doug West Memorial Fund that supports the McLeod Valley Cemetery that Charles was caretaker of for many years.
