Bruce Wilbur Fossheim

Sadly, the family of Bruce Fossheim announces his passing on June 19,2026 in the Edson Hospital.  He was born March 13, 1945 in Edson to Kolb and Madeleine Fossheim and joined brother Don. Sister Doreen and brother Norman completed their family in subsequent years.  Bruce grew up on the family farm north-east of Edson and completed all his education in Edson.  The farm was his passion throughout his whole life.  When other 18-year-olds were buying their first pickup Bruce bought his first tractor.  As he and his Dad grew their farming enterprise they added cattle and Bruce built his cow-calf operation to 100 cows which he operated alone after his Dad passed.  He approached all projects with meticulous precision and care. 

In 1966 he went to work on a small drilling rig owned by R.D.Murray through the winter months.  He saw a lot of country from Saskatchewan to the Northwest Territories.  His work included a winter project on Great Slave Lake that was the first off-shore drilling done in western Canada.  It was extremely challenging on shifting 40-inch ice and blinding blizzards.  Summers he came home to work on the farm. 

On July 3, 1976 Bruce married Joanne and in 1980 son Robert was born.  Fraser followed in 1983.  Bruce had his boys out in the tractors at an early age where he passed on his strong work ethic and the rewards of a job well done. 

Bruce is survived by his wife Joanne and sons Rob (Danielle) and Fraser, grandchildren Robert, Alexander and Christian, Brendon and Madeleine, as well as his brother Norman and several nieces and nephews and their families.  He is predeceased by his parents, his brother Don and sister Doreen.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #51, Edson, AB, on June 30, 2026 at 2:00 PM
