Obituary

Our Mom, Betty Rovang, passed away peacefully with family at her side.

Betty is survived by her son Mark (Lori), daughter Kim (Henry) and daughter Sandra (Steve).

Betty was predeceased by her husband Jerry, her parents Norman and Inet Wideman, Grandson Tom, Son-in-Law Lance, Daughter-in-Law Lori and great Grandson Forrest.

Our Mom was raised in the Kingman/Dodds area, where she met Dad. He proposed to her on Valentines Day, they married August 8,1959. With their love came 3 children, Mark, Kim and Sandra. They lived in Camrose, Slave Lake and Calgary, before finally settling In Edson, AB, to raise their family.

Dad built Mom her barn shape cedar home and over the next 40 years, they made many lasting memories.

Family and friends often gathered sharing stories, drinking coffee as well as playing games (Mom’s favourite, Scrabble) at the kitchen table.

When her kids were older, Mom worked at King Richards Men's Wear & Jerry Ford, then retired to be a homemaker and Grandma to Courtney and Tony, Amanda and Mike, Tommy, Sara and then Kody, Sarah and Jessie, Jason, Donna,Tyler and Kaitlyn as well as Travis and Rachel.

Over the next 18 years she was blessed with many great grandchildren, Payton, Max, Ben, Jay, Hailey, Jayden, Tommy, Oliver, Mckinley, Merreck, Reece, Forrest and Heath and two more surprises on the way in 2023!

Mom was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in Nov 2021, and lived every day as though she had never heard the news and never once complained about anything.

Mom was granted a gift from a Charity called "Give A Mile" which will fly loved ones home when diagnosed with terminal illness. She was able to fly Travis and Rachel back to Edson to enjoy Christmas with her.

Christmas was our mom’s favourite holiday; our fondest memories were forged through countless family gatherings over the years. Like Mom's home, her tree was absolutely beautiful and decorated to perfection!

She inspired us all throughout the years, even more this last 15 months, to live life to the fullest with an unwavering positive attitude combined with strong family values.

She will be truly missed, never ever forgotten and will live through us all.
