With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Betty Matheway, who left us peacefully on March 31, 2025, at the age of 77 in her beloved hometown of Edson, Alberta.
Betty will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her son Donny, her daughter Sandra, and son-in-law Sandy. She is now reunited with her parents, Fred Sr. and Clara Bush, and her brother Fred Bush. Betty leaves behind her dear sisters Mary, Shirley, and Linda, who will cherish her memory always.
Born and raised in Edson, Betty grew up in the Wolf Creek area, where her roots ran deep. She never left Edson, it was the place she proudly called home throughout her life, and where she lovingly raised her children. Her deep connection to the community and the land was evident in all she did.
Betty dedicated many years to serving her community through retail work in various local businesses, always with a warm smile and kind words for everyone she met.
In her later years, Betty found comfort and companionship at Parkland Lodge, where she was more than a resident, she was like a mother hen, gently watching over and caring for those around her. Her warmth, humour, and nurturing spirit made her a beloved presence among friends and staff alike.
At Betty’s request, no formal service will be held. Her family asks that those who knew her take a quiet moment to reflect on a special memory, a shared laugh, or a simple kindness, just as she would have wished.
Betty’s legacy of love, resilience, and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who had the honour of knowing her.
