Art Bauer, born on Feb 2nd, 1933, in Mannville, Alberta, passed away peacefully in Hinton, surrounded by a loving family.
He is deeply missed by his wife of 70 years, Estella; children Randy (Brenda) Bauer; Rose Bauer (John); Calvin (Cheryl) Bauer; Carol (Dave) Johnson, as well as his grandchildren Holly, Carly, Marina, Jack, Emma and their spouses; great-grandchildren Jennifer, Jamison, Jake, Logan, Daevany, Theodore, Daphne, Eiralyn, Ever, Arlo and Charlie.
Art moved his young family to Hinton some 60 years ago while working for the railroad. It wasn’t long before he quit railroading and began a lifelong career in construction.
Art was a builder, of homes and of community. He dedicated countless volunteer hours to the Curling Club, the Legion, and the Moose Lodge in Hinton.
He took great pleasure in his garden and backyard smoker and sharing the fruits of his labour with family and friends. And he loved to dance.
He was a competitive curler and card player and was good at both… at losing, not so much.
Art was an avid hunter and fisherman who often said, the best times he had were the annual Goose hunts with his seven brothers.
He was generous in sharing good fortune and good times with friends… that said, he was less likely to share directions to his favourite fishing hole.
He is remembered by his children as hard working and resourceful. An inventor at heart, he took particular pleasure in reinventing the wheel from whatever nuts and bolts he had at hand.
Art’s life was one of resilience, humour and generosity and he displayed a mischievous sense of humour to his last waking hours. It was truly a gift.
On Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024, from 2:00 – 5:00 PM, we encourage friends and family to stop by to share their fondest memories as we celebrate Art’s life at The Bridges Society, 250 Hardisty Ave, Hinton, Alberta.
In lieu of flowers, the family would be honoured if you made a donation to a charity of your choice.
