Anna Sophia (Jakubow) Storozhenko

Anna Storozhenko passed away on October 30, 2022, at the age of 91.

Anna Sophie Jakubow was born June 23, 1931, in Mundare, Alberta, to Mike and Nancy Jakubow. As a young girl her family moved to a homestead in Droston, where her two brothers, Frank and Joe, were born. She worked hard on the farm and attended to school in Droston. She married Victor Storozhenko on April 13, 1953, in New Kiew, Alberta. (A Ukrainian Catholic Church)

They lived with Victor’s mom and dad on the farm and later rented a farm in Vegreville. They had 3 sons: Ken, Jerry and Danny.

In 1955 they moved to Edson, where Victor worked as a carpenter and truck driver, while Anna was a very busy stay at home mom with 3 rambunctious boys. She loved working in the garden and making traditional Ukrainian dishes.

Sadly, she lost Victor in 1986. Her favourite times were when her whole family was together. She will be missed by all.

Anna is survived by her three sons, Ken (Julie), Jerry (Sandy), Danny (Margaret), seven grandchildren, Chris, Shawn, Johnathan, Carissa, Tyler, Michael and Terry, as well as 8 great grandchildren, Brody, Cash, Jesse, Duke, Theo, Bo, Charlie and Phoebe.

A Funeral Service will be held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Friday, November 4, 2022 at 1:00 PM with interment to follow at the Glenwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, family would appreciate donations in Anna's name made to the Alberta Diabetes Foundation or Heart & Stroke Alberta.
