Alan Boarer Obituary

Alan Boarer of Westlock, Alberta, formerly of Edson, Alberta, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of December 3, 2025, at the age of 83.

Alan was born in Woking, Surrey, England to Ruby (Brausen) Boarer and Edwin Boarer. His father, Edwin, was tragically killed in battle in France during the Second World War. Ruby later married Canadian soldier Bill Brausen, and when Alan was nearly four years old, he and his mother immigrated to Canada.

Alan was raised as the eldest of five children in Heisler, Alberta. Over the years he worked in various roles, eventually joining CN Rail, where he met the love of his life, Sheila, in Jasper. They married in 1970 and made their home in Edson, where they lovingly raised their son Tim and daughter Tara. Alan later became well known in the community through his work as the maintenance technician and “Mr. Fix-It” at the Edson Hospital, a position he held for 16 years before retiring.

Alan is predeceased by his parents, Edwin Boarer, Ruby Brausen, and Bill Brausen; siblings Ellen VanBeek, Anna and her husband Ken Heisler, Henry (Hank) Brausen; brother-in-law Doug Morgan; mother-in-law Violet Weinhardt; sister-in-law Sylvia Homeniuk.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Sheila Boarer; his son Tim (Nicole) Boarer; and his daughter Tara Boarer. He is also survived by his sister Fern (Klaus) Meyer; brother-in-law John VanBeek; sister-in-law Audrey (Bill) Sinclair; and his dear friend and brother-in-law John Homeniuk. Alan’s legacy lives on through his cherished grandsons Chance Boarer, Jordan Boarer, Cole Boarer, Erroll Boarer and Burkely Boarer.  Step grandsons Michael and Matthew Kraft. Great-Grandson Kai Boarer.

His stories, humour, and laughter will be fondly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Alan will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
