Vanessa May Miller (nee Tanton)

Vanessa passed away peacefully in her sleep September 6, 2018. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Vanessa was born in Killam, Alberta to George Tanton and Catherine McBride. She married the love of her life, William Miller, on December 5, 1959 in Edmonton, Alberta. She was predeceased by her eldest child, William Andrew Miller, and brother Lindsay Tanton. She is survived by her husband; four children: Heather (Paul) Fitt, Edwina Miller, Carmen Miller, and Christopher Miller; five grandchildren: Ashley (James) Roberts, Jeremy Fitt, Alyssa Miller, Andrew Miller, and Jared Miller; two sisters and three brothers. Vanessa worked as a nurse’s aid, for a time, at Alberta Hospital. She was the homemaker of a military family for 23 years. An avid quilter, she could often be found pinning fabric and sewing in the middle of the night. She enjoyed reading true crime stories, particularly those written by Max Haines. Vanessa was a beloved member of the communities of Hinton, Wainwright, and Pierceland, Saskatchewan.
