Trevor Callihoo Obituary

Forever In Our Hearts...

Trevor Randall Callihoo

May 7, 1964 – October 20, 2018

It is with great sadness that the family of Trevor Callihoo announce his passing at the age of 54. Residing in Fort McMurray since 2010, Trevor was born in Edmonton but moved to Hinton with his parents when he was 3 months old. Growing up in Hinton, Trevor was surrounded by a large, loving family of brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles, cousins, tag-alongs and hang-abouts. They all shared a love for one-another and for Trevor. Known by many as a gentle, wise-cracking, devoted friend. He made childhood friends that grew into lifelong friends, gaining new friends along the way, because that’s who Trevor was.

While working as a cook at Boston Pizza in 1986 Trevor met the love of his life, Laura (Munro) with whom he had two wonderful daughters, Alicia and Kaitlin. These three girls were Trevor’s reason to exist and he treated them like the treasures that they are. Trevor was a fun loving, devoted father to his daughters, a true partner for life and husband to Laura, and the best brother, uncle or cousin that a family could have.

As a natural people person, Trevor had an extraordinary gift of the gab! He loved life, telling jokes and helping others. Trevor took Reiki courses in the early 1990s, and worked on people simply for the joy of helping and healing. When he played slo-pitch he always had a line up at the ball field to fix people up, even if it was the opposite team! He would often drop whatever he was doing to help someone get rid of a headache, sore back or neck. Trevor would give the shirt off his back for someone hurting or in need. He truly was a friend to all and will be missed by many.

Many people will have known Trevor through his work at Diversified Bus Lines, Hinton Wood Products, Hinton Pulp, Coal Valley, Suncor and Syncrude. Trevor took extraordinary pride in representing workers in his capacity as a union shop steward.

Trevor leaves to mourn his loss, his loving wife Laura Callihoo, his children, Alicia Callihoo and Kaitlin (Adam) Smith, siblings Yvonne Oshanyk , George (Janice) Callihoo, Richard (Linda) Callihoo, Deborah Callihoo, David Callihoo, Shane (Margo) Callihoo, Calvin (Carrie) Callihoo), Donna (Glenn Taylor) Callihoo and grandchild Michael Darren Smith, as well as many nieces and nephews, and a large extended family! Trevor was predeceased by his parents George and Marge Callihoo, older brother Randolph Callihoo, in-laws Jim and Ione Munro, brother-in-law Darren Munro, and sister-in-law Marilyn Shuflada.

A funeral service to be held at The Hinton Centre (965 Switzer Drive) on November 4th, 2018 @ 2:00 pm

Our appreciation to the Syncrude emergency response team for their quick response, Clearstream Contracting team 502, and the staff at the Fort McMurray Hospital for all their help, and compassion.
