Stephen Albert Wells
August 14, 1951 ~ October 14, 2018
It is with great sadness that we, the family of Stephen “Steve” Albert Wells, announce his passing on Sunday, October 14, 2018 at the age of 67 in Whitecourt, Alberta. He was surrounded by his loving family and friends.
He was born in Ingonish, Nova Scotia to the late Alonzo & Augusta (Hardy) Wells. He lived in the area of Sydney, Nova Scotia for most of his life working as a rail inspector at Sydney Steel until he retired. Hunting, fishing and swimming were some of his favorite pastimes. He also enjoyed collecting pocket knives and hats. He was very involved in the community. He was a former manager of Lorne’s Blanket. He was also on the board, Prayer Director & greeter at Tennille’s Hope Kommunity Kitchen and also as a member of Senior’s Circle.
He was survived by his loving wife, Ruthann (Rideout) Wells, daughters Sandra Mesics, Catherine (Daniel) MacDonald, and Amy (Arlen) London of Whitecourt, Alberta; Kim Wells and Shawna Wells of Sydney, Nova Scotia, his grandchildren that he adored Joshua, Rebecca, Carlee, Kacie, Shayla, Hayden, Jessica, Brooke & Blayre and great-grandson Jax. He is also survived by his siblings Lonnie (Shirley) Wells; Alberta Wells, Darlene (Leo) Campbell and sister-in-law Barb Wells as well as a number of nieces and nephews. He will also be greatly missed by his best buddy John (Pam) Helm and close nephew Devin (Michelle) Rideout.
He was predeceased by his first wife Sandra (Farr) Wells, sister Mary Wells and brother John Wells.
He was a kind-hearted family man who would do anything for anyone. He will be missed by the many people whose hearts he touched. He was a man of God and loved attending services at Whitecourt Baptist Church and Salvation Army.
There will be a Celebration of Life held at the Whitecourt Baptist Church on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. There will be a light luncheon to follow at the Church Hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to Tenielle’s Hope in his honour. God Bless.
