Mrs. Rita Irma Stelter passed away in Edson, Alberta on March 4, 2018 at the age of 89 years.

Rita was born in Edson, Alberta on June 25, 1928 to parents Teresa and Victor Girardi. Rita was raised in the Coal Branch area with her brother Richard and her sister Marion. Rita is survived by sons Rick (Diane) Stelter, David (Colleen) Stelter; grandchildren Ross (Linsay) Stelter, Scott (Genn) Stelter, Denise (Blaine) Swelin, Brandi Stelter, Kristi Stelter; great-grandchildren Jett, Joaquin, Isabella, Gus, Ryker, Sam; extended family Barb Tymchuk, Dayna (Russell) Lachance and children Rickaya and Darien, Cole (Dhanell) Tymchuk and children Ava and Jace, Desimond Tymchuk; sister Marion Hodgson of Calgary Alberta; many nieces, nephews, cousins and families.

Rita was predeceased by her husband Gus Stelter in 2007 and her brother Richard Girardi.

Rita and Gustave Stelter were married on August 19, 1950. Rita received her Teacher’s Certificate at the University of Alberta in 1947 and her Real Estate License in the early 70’s. She was employed as a teacher, the owner/operator of Century 21 and also worked in retail at Children’s Clothing and the Dollar Store. Rita lived and worked in the Edson area most of her life – over 65 years.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Edson Baptist Church ~ 4717 9 Ave. on March 17, 2018 at 1:00 P.M.

Cremation has taken place and a private family internment will follow at a later date.

Rita will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
