It is with much sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Luc St-Jacques on Sunday, April 21, 2019.

Luc is survived by his loving wife, Lorna, and daughters Kayla and Arianne. Lorna has lost her best friend, husband, and soulmate. Luc’s daughters have also lost a wonderful father, who took great pride and joy participating in their lives.

Luc was born in St. Hyacinthe, Quebec on September 21, 1963, and is pre-deceased by his parents, Francoise Beorgeault (mother), Denis St-Jacques (father), and Marie St- Jacques (sister).

He is survived by his brother, Roger St-Jacques and his family (Christine, Oliver, and Simon), who reside in Lyon, France.

Luc first came to Jasper in 1983 to work as a gas attendant at the Sunwapta Falls Resort. After leaving after 1 season, he then returned to Jasper in 1985 to work as a chairlift operator at Marmot Basin Ski Resort, and a night auditor at the Whistlers Inn. His skill set also saw him work at the Astoria Hotel as night auditor, and he spent 17 years at the Jasper Inn and Suites as Financial Controller. In 2005, Luc once again went to work for Marmot Basin, but this time as the Financial Controller, where he continued to work until his passing.

The Rocky Mountains, and the outdoors were such a big par of Luc’s life. He was very proud to live in Jasper, and be a part of a community that loved him back. Luc will be greatly missed by his family, and other members in the community of Jasper. He was loved by many in Jasper including his colleagues at Marmot Basin, fellow Rotarians, De’d Dogs Hockey teammates, and others that he touched on different levels. Jasper was a big part of Luc’s heart!

Celebration of Luc’s Life will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Parish, 300 Bonhomme St, Jasper, AB T0E 1E0, with Father Thomas Basani, celebrant.
