It is with heavy hearts that the family of Lila Meropoulis announce her passing on November 11th, 2019.

She was 89 years old.

Lila was born in Edmonton, Alberta on August 12th, 1930. Her parents moved their family from Edmonton to Mackay in 1931. Lila married Lyle Meropoulis in 1950 and lived in the Niton area until moving to Hinton in 1961. The family moved back to the Niton area in 1974 and then in 2002 Lila and Lyle made their last move into Edson.

Lila loved horses and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family in the mountains on their annual pack trips. She was an avid curler and became quite the traveler as her and sister Shirley went on many adventures together.

In January of 2017, Lila was diagnosed with a life changing disease and spent the last 2 ½ years of her life in the continuing care unit in Edson.

Lila was predeceased by her husband, Lyle Meropoulis, her parents, Octor and Hazel Hewins, sisters, Francine Hewins and Shirley Hendricks and brothers, Bill Hewins and Grant Hewins.

She is survived by her children, Ken Meropoulis (Donna), Gary Meropoulis (Donna), Shane Meropoulis (Donna), Tracy Meropoulis, Jackie Nelson (Terry). Grandchildren, Tanya Patteel (Jason), Amy Meropoulis (Rueben), Levi Meropoulis (Ali), Logan Meropoulis (Darcy), Cody Meropoulis (Kendra), Chad Meropoulis (Courtney), Alana Meropoulis, Joel Little (Becky). Great Grandchildren, Delta Keeler (Justin), Austen McKean, Malaya Browne, Reece Meropoulis, Tyra Meropoulis, Tyson Meropoulis, Terner Meropoulis. Great - Great Grandchildren, Ty Prestly and Cohen Keeler. Sisters, Irene Meropoulis, Audrey Hansen (Bert), Sandra Richer (Lawrence), Donna Law (Don). Sister in-law, Mary Hewins. Brothers, Gary Hewins (Lois) Harvey Hewins, Allan Hewins, Howard Hewins (Audrey), Stephen Hewins and Douglas Hewins (Diana). Along with numerous nieces and nephews.

At Lila’s request, a service will not be held.

Interment will take place at Mackay in the spring of 2020.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Alberta and NWT.
