Leslie Ann Young (nee Olsen)

April 7, 1962 – February 27, 2019

Leslie Ann Young of Jasper, dearly loved partner of Dave Keller, passed away suddenly on February 27, 2019 at the age of 56 years.  Born in Calgary, she made her adult home in Fox Creek before moving “temporarily” to Jasper in 2015.  She quickly fell in love with the mountains and the wildlife ­– the  locals as she called them.  Leslie valued the strong relationships she built with customers and her colleagues in her long career with CIBC.  Her generous and compassionate spirit was reflected in her love for animals.  She always had several cats and at least one dog in her home.  She had a special place in her heart for cats, and if she could have owned a tiger, she certainly would have.  Instead she had to settle for making them in her many stitching projects.

Leslie, with her infectious laugh and warm smile, will be sorely missed and lovingly remembered by her partner Dave, her mother Helen “Bunty” Olsen of Torrington, her brother Alan Olsen of Holden, her sisters, Joanne Biegun and Darlene Kerr (Herman Friesen) of Calgary, and her beloved niece, Kari Flaws (Jason) of Innisfail.  She was predeceased by her brother Jim Olsen and her father Stanley Olsen. Leslie was so looking forward to her upcoming vacation to Mexico -- we know she is somewhere in the sun.  She’d tell us:  “Don’t cry because it’s over; smile because it happened.”’

In keeping with Leslie’s wishes, a formal service will not be held.  However, there will be a Celebration of Life later this spring.  Flowers are gratefully declined.  For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to any animal rescue organization, Diabetes Canada, or the Canadian Cancer Society.
