Jim Megas, a long time resident of Jasper, Alberta passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at the age of 86. Jim was born on April 10, 1932 in Achladokambos, Greece, to parents Marko and Demetra.

Jim left Greece in 1951 and immigrated to Edmonton, Alberta. He met the love of his life Athina in 1964 and they were soon married. They moved to Edson and lived there for 4 years, where he owned and operated a restaurant business called Avenue Grill. In 1968 they moved to Jasper and raised their family. Jim was involved in the restaurant business once again where he co-owned and operated the Holiday Restaurant until 1986. He continued his passion for cooking for the next 20 years at the L&W restaurant with the Vlahos family. Jim enjoyed living in Jasper and the outdoors. He loved to cross-country ski, fish and hunt. He always enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Jim will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Jim was predeceased by his father Marko, mother Demetra and his brother Kosta.

Jim will be lovingly remembered by his wife Athina of 54 years; son Mark (Barb) Megas; daughter Roula (John) Anagnostopoulos; grandchildren Dina Anagnostopoulos, Athena and Dimitri Megas and sister Asimina. Jim is also survived by many extended family members in both Canada and Greece.

The family of Jim Megas would like to express their gratitude to all of the staff at the Seton Hospital for their professional attention and care.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Jasper, Alberta with Father Charalampos Tzintis officiating. Interment to follow at the Jasper Park Cemetery.
