Giovanni Novelletto Obituary

It is with profound sadness we announce the sudden passing of our husband, father and grandfather Giovanni (John) Gaspere Novelletto, at the age of 82 in Jasper, Alberta.  John came to Canada from Italy in 1965 by boat. He landed in Vancouver where he spent time with his sister and her family before moving out east to Jasper National Park. Here is where John decided to stay and call home as he loved the beautiful mountains and the locals of the town. John spent most of his adult life working for the railroad until his retirement.
John was always happy, he had the most genuine smile that could light up a room and bring sunshine to the cloudiest of days. One of the most admirable things about John was his inclusiveness in the diversity of all his friendships. John accepted anyone as a friend and treated them with respect and dignity. He started off his day with coffee at Tim Horton's with his eldest daughter and then later on in the morning he would meet with several of his friends at the local A&W.  This is also the place that he would get all the local gossip and just be together with the guys. John was best known for his wonderful sense of humor and his love to tease others.
He leaves behind the love of his life Carol whom he was married to for almost 54 years. The love that he had for her was like something out of a novel, his world was Carol. Family was very important to John and he loved his children with all his being. He leaves behind three loving daughters, Jo-Ann (Scott) Sherlow, Teresa (Michael) Cardinal and Angela Novelletto. He also leaves behind three granddaughters Mikyla(Casey)Cleary, Cailyn Sherlow and Danika Cardinal. His grandchildren were his world and nothing brought him more joy than being called Grandpa. He also leaves behind three fur grand dogs, Smytty, Teddy and Mylo which came into his house and headed straight for the treat cupboard as he always had a treat to give. John also leaves behind three sisters, Maria Motta from Burnaby B.C, Gianna Tommassi  and Isetta (Georgio) both of Italy and his sister  in law Sandy (Sonny) Swanson from Prince George, BC. He also leaves behind several nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces and great, great nephews and nieces.  John had a wide range of friends that he valued a great deal. Some of these friends were more like family to him as they were lifelong friends. He leaves Quinto and Rita Odorizzo, Rose-Maria and Fred Wall, Hubert and Gloria Plante, Alden Bradley and Don Marshall to reminisce the great times they had. Together John and Carol opened their hearts and home to many “ Novelletto” orphans. Many of their daughter’s friends made the Novelletto house a loving place to call home.
John was predeceased by his mother and father Katrina and Luigi Novelletto, his mother and father in law Helen and Alan Mee, as well as his brother Tony Moresco.
