Gertrude Ida Maglis

Gertrude Ida Maglis passed away in Hinton, Alberta on May 7, 2018 at the age of 79 years.
Gertie was born as the youngest of six children in Hay Lake, Alberta on June 16, 1938 to parents Hilda and Emmanuel Roth. Once married, she and her husband Glen moved to Hinton, Alberta to raise their family. They had two daughters; Glenda (deceased) and Gail Maglis. She enjoyed her four grandchildren - Kayla Watson (Ben), Alex Watson, Nathan Bales (Shelby) and Laurene Denzler (Travis). Gertie liked living in Hinton and the small town atmosphere; she made many friends and enjoyed visiting with them. Gertie worked in retail for most of her working career. In her spare time, she loved to bowl, garden and happily volunteered her time for Victim Services as well. Later in life, Gertrude resided at Pine Valley Lodge - which she absolutely loved. She made many friends there and liked to participate in the excursions and activities that she was able to do.
Gertie is survived by her daughter Gail Maglis (Ron Bales) of Hinton, Alberta; grandchildren Nathan Bales (Shelby), Kayla Watson (Ben), Laurene Denzler (Travis) and Alex Watson; great-grandchildren Vian and Caleb; sister Adele Jensen of Camrose; sisters-in-law Agnes Roth and Eileen Roth; as well as numerous special nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
Gertrude was predeceased by her parents Hilda and Emmanuel Roth; husband Glen; daughter Glenda; siblings Helmut Roth, Arthur Roth, Eb (Marie) Roth, George Roth and Hedy (Bill) Masterson.
A Graveside Service was held at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Hinton, Alberta on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 12:30 P.M.
