Donovan “Don” Thomas John Herbert

September 14^th, 1934 – January 10^th, 2018

Mr. Donovan Thomas John Herbert passed away with his loving wife Pearl by his side at Edson, Alberta on January 10^th, 2018 at the age of 83 years.  Don was born in Shining Bank, Alberta on September 14^th, 1934 to parents Marie and Frederick Herbert. Don enjoyed the great outdoors and liked to go hunting, fishing and camping in his off time. He was also well known as a teller of great tales. Don worked for Staheli Construction and in 1967 he partnered up with his good friend Paul Johnson, creating Johnson & Herbert Construction. In 1972, they added Al Johnson as a business partner to the company.  He retired and sold in 1988 to his son Donivan, along with four current employees.  Don is survived by his loving wife Pearl Herbert; son Donivan (Sheryl), grandsons Dalton of Red Deer, Joel & Logan of Edson; son Casey (Martha), grandsons Adam (Pearl), step great grandson Dominic of Leduc, Bryan (Aicha), great granddaughter Bella of Edmonton; granddaughter Sarah (Christian) of Edmonton; step grandson Jorge Espinosa (Phoenix); step great grandson Diego of Edson; daughter Deanna Nachura (Ed), grandson Connor, granddaughters Mackenzie & Megan of Bonnyville; son Morgan, granddaughter Maranda of Edson; step daughter Debbie Sikora (Peter), step granddaughter Lauren Brown (Leo), step grandson Steven of Edson; step son Brad Paschak (Kevlyn), step grandsons Justin & James; step son Ken Hrynew (Karen) of Kelowna; along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.  Don was predeceased by his first wife Thora Herbert, grandson Dylan Herbert, sisters Betty Williams and Dorothy Rurka, mother Marie Herbert and father Frederick Herbert. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Recreation Complex in Edson on Saturday, January 27^th, 2018 at 1:00 p.m.  As an expression of sympathy and in loving memory of Don, memorial contributions can be made to the Parkland Lodge – Evergreens Foundation - 4716 5th Avenue Edson, Alberta T7E 1S8.  Foothills Memorial Chapel – Edson Funeral Home have been entrusted with the care and funeral arrangements- 780-723-3575.  Condolences can be forwarded to the family by visiting our website at www.foothillsmemorialchapel.com
